An I/O device error: Windows could not read or write the drive. Common with failing USB sticks, SD cards and hard drives.

How to fix it

  1. Try another USB port and cable.
  2. Copy important files off the drive now, one folder at a time.
  3. Run chkdsk X: /f (replace X with the drive letter).
  4. Check health with CrystalDiskInfo.

Is it serious?

Often a sign the drive is dying. Replace it once your files are safe.
